Lead Distribution to Referral Partners

Lead distribution to partners is made up of many factors. This includes:

  • Is this partner at the highest Selection Priority (SP) for this lead type?
  • Has the partner reached their daily / monthly lead limit?
  • Is the partner able to take leads from the postcode area that the lead is in?
  • Can the partner receive leads today and at this time of day?
  • How long has the partner been waiting to receive a lead?
  • Is the partner active / online?
  • Does the partner have sufficient credit / balance to receive the lead?
The distribution of leads is based on the lead type that the lead is in. For example, if you had a Pensions lead type and a Mortgages lead type they'd have independent distribution rules and queues.

Let's look at two examples.
Example 1:

Partner APartner B
Lead Type (postcode area) Mortgages (All areas)Mortgages (BB area)
Lead Type (postcode area) Pensions (All areas)

Partner A can take any Mortgage lead and any Pension lead.
Partner B can only take mortgage leads in the BB postcode area.
Both partners have the same selection priority and no lead limits.
Let's look at seven leads which come into the system and how the distribution works:

NamePostcode Area Lead Type Referred To Why?
Dan B BB10MortgagesPartner A It's a mortgage lead.
Sarah P BB11 PensionsPartner A It's a Pensions lead.

Partner APartner BPartner CPartner D
Partner E
Lead Type (Postcode Area)Mortgages (All) Mortgages (BB)Mortgages (BB)Mortgages (All)
Mortgages (BB, DE)

Partners A & D can take any Mortgage lead, Partners B & C accept Mortgage leads from the BB postcode area and Partner E accepts Mortgage leads from the BB & DE postcode area. All partners are using the same selection priority and have no lead limits.
Fourteen leads are received and assigned in the following way:

In regards to how a partner is selected to receive the first referral it's randomly decided. The system can see that eligible partners are yet to receive a lead and will randomly select one to give the first lead to. The selected partner then essentially becomes the first entry in the queue for lead distribution and is only superseded by partners that are yet to receive any lead.
